what’s cooking in my design kitchen

Hello ladies! Sorry for the long silence – I’ve been busy and happily designing away. To keep you in the loop – apart from very exciting brand design projects for wedding professionals and a sweet wedding illustration commission, I’ve been busy developing new exclusive design items.

Get this – I just created my first scarf design!

I found a fashion fabric house who works with me on creating high quality fashion scarves in quantities as low as 10 pieces. So now I can offer custom-illustrated scarves for brides and their bridesmaids or guests. I cannot say how excited I am about this! Imagine, your very own design, captured on your own limited-edition fashion scarf, to accompany you wherever you go, reminding you of your happy wedding celebrations. To keep, forever. And you (and whoever you gave it to as gift) will be the only one to own it! SWOON, right?! I can’t wait to design one for one of my next brides! For now, here are some mood board teaser images for you of an upcoming engagement photo shoot in New York, for which I created such a fashion scarf.

This will be the upbeat summery color palette of the photo shoot:

and we’ll also have new clear perspex items in our fashion-inspired wedding shoot

    - as you may know by now, I love designing with clear materials!

Sex and the city style NY bride & girlfriends day

Recently, I created several design items for a modern, SATC inspired bride & girlfriend photo shoot in NYC. Today, it was featured on the most popular wedding blog of all times, Style Me Pretty! Here are a few sneak peeks… get ready – there are some illustrated design items and unique wedding celebration ideas that I have never made before!

The bride and her girlfriends having a ball at Gabriella New York bridal salon. I particularly love the white gown in the middle, with the gem patterns – it’s so unique, isn’t it! And it looks absolutely ravishing on the bride. Bridesmaids gowns by Two Birds Bridesmaid. Custom-made perspex rings with tailor-made illustration: yes, I made these for the bridesmaids! If you’re interested in more design items like this, visit AstridMuellerExclusive.com or email me.

As you see above, I also made matching illustrated perspex drink stirs for the occasion. For the concept of the gem illustrations as glamorous NYC style element, I drew inspiration from the recently auctioned Elizabeth Taylor jewelry collection. What inspiration that was!  I also created several hand-debossed velvet design accents, which featured the designs. You see above a napkin ring and a glimpse of another debossed fabric piece. I had also made a velvet scarf, chokers and hair accessories, as well as a tailor-made matching perspex clutch (not shown).

All of my design items you see above are tailor-made to order. If you’re interested in accentuating your celebration with your own unique design pieces, and in new wedding design accents and gifts that may have never been made and seen before , visit AstridMuellerExclusive.com for initial inspiration, or email me directly.

Hope you enjoyed the glimpses above! See more in the Style Me Pretty blog feature here and browse the full gallery with all photos here!

How I developed the wedding stationery of Grace and TJ

Last Friday, I teased you with a sneak peek of Grace and TJ’s special Alaska wedding stationery. Today, you’re invited to see how their custom-tailored wedding invitation concepts were developed!

Of course, before anything else, there was a get-to-know-each-other call (which was so touching because Grace told me how she fell in love with TJ and kept trying to fly on his flights just to see him!).  After our meeting over the phone, I invited them to share photos which I would use as additional inspiration for their personal wedding illustration.

Meet the lovely bride, Corinne Grace, and her sweetheart pilot, TJ!

And this is his beautiful float plane:

By now, I was totally inspired. Wedding illustration and stationery design ideas were flying through my mind…I was ready to start the design concept phase!

I created these three rough design-concept ideas for the cover of their wedding invitation sketches:

Concept 1: Features TJ’s airplane, island hopping, just like when they met!

custom tailoered wedding illustration, airplane themed wedding stationery, alaskan wedding invitation, pilot wedding

Concept 2: Both of them in his airplane, their love playfully imagined with flying hearts.

Concept 3: A different take on Concept 2, flying loops, er, hearts!

Destination Alaska: Wedding inspiration Corinne Grace & TJ

Last weekend, my boyfriend’s sister got married! Big, warm congratulations to Corinne Grace and TJ!

TJ is pilot, and first sparks flew when they met on a chartered flight to an Alaska island. He also owns a pretty float-plane, and they enjoy to sometimes fly together to beautiful remote getaways!

As a wedding gift, I had created a bespoke illustration for them, and designed their wedding invitations. Naturally, I suggested to illustrate them in his plane!

Here’s a first glimpse of their custom-made illustration:

Next Friday I’ll share more details about their wedding illustration.

Come back to peek over my shoulder as I design!

          Happy weekend everyone!
