I would have loved to continue their wedding stationery concept, which would have included gold accents and been exclusively embossed. However, sadly, the groom fell ill, and they had to postpone the wedding. Hoping all will be well. My thoughts and best wishes are with them!

Last week, you saw the family crest I tailor-made for the Baehren family wedding stationery. As promised, today I’ll reveal the stylized figurative illustration I also designed for the couple!

When I designed this illustration, the bride hadn’t yet chosen her wedding gown. She described her wedding vision as classical with a glint of royal style, which immediately evoked the image of her resplendent in a full-skirted princess gown. Inspired, I created this illustration for them:

The illustrated figures resemble the actual bride and groom in a stylized way. Hope to see you back here next Friday, when I’ll reveal their finished save the date card design!

A while ago, a lovely couple approached me with a very clear idea for their wedding illustration. For her save the date cards, the bride asked me to create a crest illustration in red, black and white (we planned to add gold to the invitations!).

She envisioned the crest to be traditionally inspired, heart-shaped and showing their wedding motto”heart and soul.” Also, because her fiancé lovingly called her “his lion lady,” Ms. Baehren asked me to add a lion family to the crest to symbolize her, her fiancé, and her child from her first marriage.

A lot of different elements can be a challenge design-wise, but we all really liked the result:

It was wonderful to be able to create such a personalized design reflecting everything that meant most to the couple. Can it get any more meaningful than that?

If you like the idea of a bespoke illustration or crest for your own wedding, I invite you to email me or visit me on Astrid Mueller Exclusive to see more. Thoughts? Questions? Suggestions? As always, I welcome all your comments!

Unusual Wedding Inspiration: Heidi Klum & Seal

A few days ago, Heidi Klum and Seal celebrated their 6th vow renewal with an event at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. As in previous years, they playfully added a theme to their party.

This time, they turned their ceremony into a Pirates of the Caribbean inspired ball!

I love how they renew their vows each year. And why not put a fun spin on it?

Most of us may feel that such a strong theme would be too bold or distracting for an actual wedding day. But how about an engagement party, girls’ weekend, or vow renewal celebration?

No matter what inspiration you may choose, it can always be done in style. Take a look at this pirate-inspired style board I created for you:

I added the locket pendant to the set because it could be a beautiful way to add meaning to your celebration. How sweet would it be to engrave secret words of love inside just for you to see?

What do you think? Would you consider adding unique flair like this to your own love celebration?
