I’m super buzzed about the photo shoot, I know it will be so glamorous, so much eye candy! Swoooooooon! I’m creating a bunch of design accents with my illustrations that I’ve never made before. With velvet! And cast acrylic! I’m really excited about these as well. Stay tuned! Come back!

Unusual Wedding Inspiration: Temperature & Textures

When thinking of design, we tend to think about the visual aspects first. In case you are currently planning your wedding, here’s some different inspiration:

What if you asked your wedding planner to draw on temperature and texture as wedding design muse?

For example, take a look at this mood board where I drew inspiration from winter (crystal, glass, ice, cool tones) and juxtaposed them to warmth (and soft velvet, fur, lush dark tones):

As I create custom-tailored wedding illustrations, I visualize the couple’s personality, story, and style. Using the above style inspiration, I could create an elegant, fashion-inspired illustration, and then continue the play on textures by printing on really smooth paper that feels cool to the touch, with velvet tactile accents. If you are intrigued, email me! Thus far, I haven’t worked with this concept yet, so you would be the very first to amaze your guests this way!

      How Karl Lagerfeld inspired me

Sorry I’m a bit late this week, ladies! However, I hope it was worth the wait.  After a super busy week, I found some off-time to do a quick fashion-inspired sketch – just because. The other night, I was watching a deeply inspiring documentary about the multi-talented fashion genius Karl Lagerfeld. Not surprisingly, it made me REALLY crave to sketch! Did you know when he creates fashion sketches, he uses Tipp Ex for white accents? Intriguing little tidbit..

I wouldn’t dare compare my modest little sketch to Mr. Lagerfeld’s fashion sense…I just got carried away by pretty images in my mind and had some fun sketching away. Hope you like it!

Next week, I’ll dive into more wedding inspiration. I’m looking forward to seeing you back here! Anything particular you’d love me to blog about?

        Velvet Winter Wedding Inspiration

If you’re not just getting ready for a holiday weekend but also musing about your upcoming winter wedding, get ready to indulge in some style inspiration I’ve put together for you:

          color palette velvet winter

Counter-balance the cool weather with warmth in your wedding design. This topshop Christmas 2010 campaign beautifully reflects the colors I wanted to use in my styleboard: white, dark purple, and accent colors black and deep red. I also envisioned warm materials like velvet, fur, and, of course, lots of candles!

Oh goodness, now I got myself inspired!  If you love this style direction and may use it for your wedding, let me know…I’d love to see what your event details will look like! And, of course, if you like the idea of a tailor-made illustration of you and your fiancé to personalize your wedding, I’ll be delighted to design for you.

Happy Holidays – have a fabulous celebration!
