How Audrey Personalized Her Wedding with an Illustration
Before we paused for last week’s fashion cause, you may remember we were following the creation of Audrey and Nathan’s (headless!) invitation. Audrey had initially asked me to illustrate her and Nathan without their heads…but for a fabulously fun reason!
Using the headless illustration on their engagement party invitations, Audrey threw her guests off the scent.
Using the illustration (this time – hurray! – with heads) in wedding day details like place cards, a cake topper, party favors, and thank you cards, Audrey and Nathan cleverly revealed to their utterly surprised guests that their engagement party was actually a wedding!
To Audrey: Working with you was such a blast, Audrey (I know you are reading this!). Thank you again for being so fun to work with, for actually turning into a friend, and for inviting me to be part of your celebration! I’m very happy that we’re still in touch – you are an inspiration. Wishing you and Nathan love, always!
And to all of you: Hope to see you again next Friday when I’ll share some of my latest wedding and style inspirations. I’m wishing you a fantastic and inspired weekend!

Aw Audrey, you’re such a sweetheart. Thank you so much for your kind and warm comment! I love the soap favor you sent me as a gift (while you should be the one getting gifts from me!!), with the beautiful saying “The best part of life is when your family become your friends and your friends become your family.” I am so happy to have been able to work with you, and very thankful to have found a new friendship with you, on top of just our client relationship. Thank you for all your support, always, and for being such a friend!
This story never gets old. Everyone gets a kick out of it. I can literally make a new friend by saying, hey, you wanna hear a funny story?…to a stranger. In line. At a store.
The friendships made, the illustrations, the experience, the suspense, and the memories are all people take with them once the event is over. People always talk about how their own wedding is unforgettable, now they talk about how mine is! It warms my heart to know how this is more than a fleeting moment for most.
Thank you, Astrid, for breathing life, color and allowing me to push the envelope to try something new. You’re magical!
If I had to do it all over again…I would do it in a heartbeat. Cheers to being an adult! ;)
